Avoca Cafe

Avoca Cafe on Suffolk Street in Dublin 2 is a little gem. Avoca isn’t just a lovely shop with the most beautiful housewares and gifts, its cafe is a joy to behold. It’s a busy place, especially on a Saturday, but worth the wait if there’s a queue.

On my recent visit, their soup of the day was Carrot and Orange, which was a nice texture, but a little too organgy for my liking. I was offered 3 types of breads, but refrained as they were all wheat based. When I asked if they had a wheat-free option, the waitress said “I have something for you”. I was intrigued. So, along came my soup with 2 slices of coeliac bread, white, fresh, hot bread and it was divine! A welcome surprise too. I’d be back for more of it!

I also spotted on their menu that they have some delicious gourmet dishes, homemade desserts and fresh juices and smoothies, leaving any hungry customer spoilt for choice! Set on the second floor of the Avoca store , Avoca CafĂ© is a lovely place to unwind and the service was good. I’d say afternoon tea would be a delight as there is such a delicious selection of homemade desserts, home baked scones and biscuits, and I’m told by a friend, there are wheat free options. Though, you may just have to ask again. If we ask enough, they might just put the wheat free options on the menu!
