When I’m supermarket shopping, there are always a few aisles I need to skip. Invariably they are the Italian and Mexican aisles – anything with flour – tortillas, pasta and sauces. It’s funny, a lot of the time I don’t even bother looking in these aisles as I presume there’ll never be anything I can eat! But I was mistaken the other day when I looked at the ingredients on Old el Paso’s corn tacos. The pack contains 12 Taco Shells, the ingredients are just cornflour and vegetable oil. So, thought I’d give them a go. I also bought the Old El Paco Taco Spice mix, which again had no trace of wheat, and their mild salsa.
Just add 500g of minced beef, lettuce, 2 tomatoes, and some grated cheese, with the salsa, and it’s all very simple. Your crunchy beef tacos are ready in just 20 minutes! There’s enough for 4 people too. Full instructions are at the back of the pack, and even if you aren’t an accomplished chef, you would be well able to make these. These can also be made veggie by using refried beans, or simple some salad. So, get crunching! I will investigate other Old El Paso products and report back.
