Juvela has a wide variety of gluten-free foods from pasta to pizza bases, breads and biscuits. I tried the gluten-free fusilli pasta, and was pleasantly surprised. When I was cooking it, I was beginning to get worried as it started to look starchy and gloopy and I thought “here we go again”. But then I read the cooking directions which specified for a hot dish, thoroughly rinse with hot water, so I sieved the pasta and poured boiling water over it, to rinse all the cloudy-looking water out. My pasta then looked normal and I added in tomato and herb sauce and served with parmesan. I was really surprised, the pasta tasted really lovely, had a good texture to it, didn’t fall apart and tasted pretty close to the real thing. Add a sauce or herbs of your choice to this golden pasta. It provoked my curiosity about this brand and I’d be interested to see what else is on offer. Ingredients include maize starch, soya flour, potato flour, rice starch and emulsifiers. All Juvela products are gluten-free, however some of them are also wheat free, dairy free and soya free. Available on prescription and also in leading supermarkets, or online on Juvela site, they have an online shop.
