Ready-made mixes make life easy!

I’m often sceptical of ready-mixes as I like to know what amounts of sugar etc are put into baking. However, I’m now very open to trying ready-made mixes as they make life very easy! The Cake & Crumb do a great range of mixes. I tried the shortcrust pastry, madeira mix and the chocolate brownie mix – all gluten free and wheat free. When I say they make life easy, you simply add 2 ingredients – eggs and butter. And wow, they are fantastic. They were all great. I especially love the chocolate brownies, they are absolutely amazing. They were very simple to make as well, simply add eggs and melted butter to the mix, stir well and put into a greased tin and bake for 30 minutes. The smell from the oven after about 20 minutes was mouth-watering and when I took them out after 30 minutes, I was so impatient, I didn’t want to let them cool. I started chopping them up and they kind of crumbled, but that was my fault! What’s fantastic about these is that there is still some gooey chocolate inside them. My sister cannot eat wheat either and she adored them. My husband can eat wheat and he demolished them as well! So, just shows that wheat-free, gluten-free is a winner all round!
